Enterprise-Ireland funds vessel for UK offshore projects

Paul Garrett, Windpower Monthly, 27 January 2012, 3:23pm

IRELAND: A vessel whose development has been part-funded by Enterprise Ireland’s research and development fund has been built and launched specifically for servicing offshore wind farms around Britain.

The €2.04 million 20-metre aluminium catamaran from County Wicklow-based shipbuilder Arklow Marine Services was built for Gardline Shipping to meet the need for new-generation vessels for offshore wind.

The vessel is a new departure for Arklow Marine,  whose core business is the design and construction of aluminium and steel passenger ferries and trawlers.
