Nordex increases tower size for German order

James Quilter, Windpower Monthly, 24 January 2012, 2:32pm

GERMANY: Nordex has been handed a 31.2MW contract from ABO Wind for a version of its low wind-speed turbine with a 141-metre tower.

Nordex increases tower size for German order

The order is for 13 N117/2400 and 8 N100/2500 turbines to go to two wind farms in the German parts of Central Hesse and Franconia.

Many of the turbines will be located in woodland, requiring a larger tower to keep the blades from hitting the trees. The N117's blades are almost 60-metres long.

Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, CCO at Nordex said: "Germany is of crucial importance for Nordex as our home market is stable and continuing to grow. What is more, the fact that our long-standing customer ABO Wind has opted in favour of the new non-coastal systems marks a key success."
