Nordex wins 50MW Turkish order

John McKenna, Windpower Monthly, 17 January 2012, 11:52am

TURKEY: Nordex today announced it had secured an order to supply 20 turbines from its 2.5MW series for a wind farm in western Turkey.

Power station operator Bilgin Enerji signed the 50MW deal with the turbine manufacturer for its Zeytineli wind farm. The project is to be installed on the hill rows of Alaçati-Çesme in the province of Izmir in the first quarter of 2013.

The coastal location is characterised by good wind conditions, allowing the turbines to generate a combined annual yield of around 165GWh, equivalent to an above-average capacity factor of 38%.

Project finance for Zeytineli is being provided by Bayern LB bank and German Export Credit Agency Euler Hermes.

Nordex has previously assembled three wind farms for Bilgin Enerji in Turkey with a total capacity of 210MW.
